NICK CAVE

THE DEATH OF BUNNY MUNRO

A drastic self-destruction in II acts
Translation and stage adaptation by Dž.Dž.Džilindžers
Premiere on 31 March 2017

/ With an English translation in subtitles /

The unruly optimist Bunny has the name of a rabbit, a depressed wife and a son, who loves his father very much. Bunny travels around selling dreams. The dream, of course, is himself – a world-class shagger of magnetic attraction and constant erection. When all falls down, he attempts to pass this unique talent, which Bunny himself has inherited from his now psycho father, onto his son.
Bunny is always ready to toast to life and all the shit it contains. Yet, the Horned Killer is approaching and one needs to keep his eyes open.

The Death of Bunny Munro (2009) is the second novel written by the Australian-born musician Nick Cave (1957). Cave is a singer-songwriter, composer and screenwriter, best known for his band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, created in 1983.

Following a tumultuous youth, highlighted by heroin use and numerous encounters with police, Nick Cave completes his art studies in Melbourne, having considered becoming a painter, before turning to music. In the 1980s London, his band The Birthday Party acquires a reputation as one of the most violent bands of the time. Referred to as rock music's "Prince of Darkness", Nick Cave’s expressive musicality is a major influence on gothic rock. Cave’s music is characterised by emotional intensity and a gothic obsession with death, religion, love and violence.

The 1996 album Murder Ballads features Where the Wild Roses Grow, a duet with Kylie Minogue, which remains Cave's most commercially successful single to date.
Nick Cave’s music has been featured in many films, such as German director Wim Wenders’ films and a number of Hollywood blockbusters –    Batman Forever, The X-Files, Scream and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. A film based upon his own life – 20,000 Days on Earth – was released in 2014.

Cave has written the screenplay for a number of films, including Lawless (2012) starring Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce, and published two novels – And the Ass Saw the Angel (1989) and The Death of Bunny Munro (2009). Currently, Nick Cave lives with his family in Brighton, England.
