The characters of „Travellers by Sea and Land”, originally directed by Vladislavs Nastavševs in The New Riga Theatre, continue their lives on stage of the Dailes Theatre. Here they all come together once more – the entirely sensless Polina, who longs for scandals and catastrophies, the noble Iraida with her stunning temper, Lyolechka, who almost resembles an amusing little animal, the eternal compunction Orest, Lavrik – always suffering in love, and the others. Their journey never ends.
The white nights of St. Petersburg, full of anxiety, and the deceptive calm of a countryside manor give rise to the long sunken Atlantis. There are deceitful games, fatal ennui and boredom, the usual tedious words, world-weary, jaded souls and laziness at heart. Yet, there must also be a cheerful, bright and happy life somewhere... Somewhere people see the world with enthusiasm and delight without feeling ashamed of it afterwards. Somewhere one may lead a beautiful and tempestuous life! What is the way to a happy, harmonious life?
