Connor McPherson

THE WEIR /Possibly, a True Story in 1 Act/

In collaboration with the Theatre Development Association Daile

Translated from English by Eduards Liniņš

Premiere: 17 September, 2013

In a small village pub in Ireland, fate or coincidence brings together four men and one young woman who has just arrived from the city. In the course of the evening, each tells the others believable, and not so believable stories wherein real or imagined ghosts of the person’s past reveal themselves. How much of these stories is true, how much is imagination? How much joking and how much pain?

The Theatre Development Association Daile in collaboration with the Dale Theatre create productions involving actors and directors from other Latvian theatres and outside Latvia.

This play by the Irish playwright Connor McPherson (1971 - ), woven throughout with dark humour, has received the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Award as the Best Play of the Year. Jan Willem van den Bosch, on the other hand, is well known to the Daile Theatre audiences as the Director of the artistically successful and well-loved productions like Pillowman, Amadeus and Gone with the Wind.
